How to get past your to-do list and on with running your business

We all want to be an awesome business owner. Often though, when it comes down to the reality of running a business, the day-to-day stuff on our to-do list can kind of get in the way of that awesomeness!

We go into business with an idea – but find the reality contains a lot more!

This is especially relevant for sole-preneurs and work-from-home mums, regardless of the type of business you’re in. We go into business with the dream of doing the ‘thing’ we’re good at – such as coaching, mentoring, writing etc., but find that, in order to have a business doing that ‘thing’, we need to learn a whole host of new, unrelated things too!

We then get organised, by writing a to-do list, only to find we then get overwhelmed by everything that’s on that list.

You need to be honest with the stuff on that to-do list and the business you want

What’s needed is a good, honest look at that to-do list. You need to take a look at that list and ask yourself the following question – can I effectively run the business I want to have, by doing all of these things on my to-do list myself?

The reality is, your answer is often a big fat ‘no’.

Now you’re making progress

Don’t be deflated by that answer though, as you’ve a) been honest with yourself and b) opened yourself up to new (and better) possibilities.

Knowing you can’t do it alone paths the way to a better solution for you and your business – getting help and support.

In order to get past your to-do list and on with running your business, you need to do those things you’re great at and find someone else to do the other stuff on your list. This is where a VA can be worth her weight in gold.

The best solution for you and your business

You already have a to-do, so why not pass it over to a VA? They can help you with the day-to-day tasks on that list, such as reports, research, database management and everyday queries from existing and potential clients. They can also help you grow your business, by helping with product launches, mail outs, social media and advertising.

So if you’re ready to become that awesome business owner you previously dreamt of, look to invest in a VA. Not only will that enable you to get past your to-do list – you’ll also be allowing that VA to be their awesome self too!

How’s your to-do list looking? Are you managing to clear everything on it, or are you drowning under the weight of your to-do list? Maybe you’ve already hired a VA and noticed the difference, both to yourself and your business? Why not share your experiences in the comments box below!
